Would Lou Be Right for You?

At a local animal shelter, I had worked with an American Pitt Bull Terrier named Lou. He was an extremely friendly dog, but often got over-excited and would jump up on things and people, or would try to walk his walkers by bitting onto the leash to hold it in his mouth (a big no-no for showing who is boss). Yet with only a few weeks of simple training, such as holding the leash down to the ground with eye contact on Lou, he made fantastic progress in learning how to behave during walks. I have worked with other dogs of this same breed and it seems that overall and against the stereotype, American Pitt Bull Terriers are obedient, friendly dogs just looking for love.
