Species group: Mixed Breeds
The basics:
RightPet does not advocate the intentional cross-breeding of purebred dogs. But the reality is that most dogs available for adoption at shelters and rescues are mixed breeds. We think it might be helpful to hear from owners of these mixes to see what traits can be found in these dogs who are desperately needing homes.
The first generation Beagle / Australian Cattle Dog is a cross between a pure Beagle and a pure Australian Cattle Dog, although subsequent generations may have different proportions of the two breeds in the mix. While both parent breeds are friendly, energetic dogs, they have some differences in their personality that mean you can't easily predict the exact traits you'll get with this mix. Get to know the dog as an individual before you make a decision.
Appearance / health:
While all mixed-breed dogs can vary in health or appearance, many owners say you should avoid allowing any Australian Cattle Dog mix to over-exercise by running or jogging while it's still a puppy.
Behavior / temperament:
While it's impossible to predict the exact traits inherited by a mixed-breed dog, many owners of this mix say their dogs still have a herding instinct and may try to gather children or other family members into one place. Others comment that their Beagle / ACD mixes are just as barky as pure-bred Beagles. Know how to handle the potential issues that could arise with either breed, because the personality of this mix can be unexpected.

I use tons of this for yeast otitis in dogs. Sometimes add a steroid and/or antibiotic. Very effective in my experience.
