We got our dog when she was about 6 weeks old. She died at age 13 almost a year ago. When we first got her, she was very easy to crate train. Our daughter was one when we got Maggie, so she never knew life without children. She didn't mind if our daughter crawled all over. They became inseparable. The only time Maggie ever barked was when the UPS truck came to our house. Other than that, she was very laid back! She did like to chew a lot from about 4-6 months old. She wasn't overly energetic, but she did relish her daily walks. If she missed a walk, she wasn't wild or destructive, though. She also had excellent health up until her last year. She only went to the vet for her annual check up! During her last year, she got cancer, but her temperament was so mild-mannered that she never complained, even though it was clear she was in pain. Her favorite things during her 13 years were her walks and runs with the family, lying on the floor with her "sisters (my kids)" while watching tv, eating cheerios her sisters dropped on the floor, and moving from sunny spot to sunny spot throughout the house. You could not ask for a better dark. Plusses: no barking, easygoing, low maintenance, loves people without being clingy, and super easy to train. Minuses: None that I can think of!
