I had the pleasure of going ferel hog hunting in Florida a couple of years ago with a Black Mouthed Cur. I had never seen a Cur dog before and I was rather impressed at it's body style, look and it's agility. I do not recommend these dogs as pets for young children!
The Cur is a hunting dog, specifically bred to hunt ferel hogs. They are quick and mean with their quarry. Getting really wound up on a hunt you definately don't want to get in your Cur's way. They round up the ferel hog and bring it to the hunter. Sometimes, however, I have seen a Cur actually kill a 200 lb hog.
These dogs need constant training for their basic commands such as come and stay. However, like some hunting dogs, they only have one thing on their mind and that is to get the quarry. The Cur is definately for adult sportsmen who have a strong hand. This is a very handsome dog however, and to watch them on a hunt is just amazing.
