The basics:
The Braque Francais de Grande Taille is the larger of two French pointing dogs developed to hunt, point, and retrieve upland game birds, especially woodcock. These fine bird-dogs are eager to please their human companions, and they may develop severe separation anxiety if left alone for long hours of the day.

Appearance:
The Large French Pointer is a large, athletic dog that resembles a German Short-haired Pointer closely enough that it has been mistaken for that breed.

Behavior / temperament:
Bred to hunt, chase, and retrieve, but not to kill, these bird dogs are not as aggressive with small pets as some other breeds. They are highly athletic and energetic animals, though, and they demand an active owner who truly enjoys walking, jogging, hiking, and doing things with them.
