The basics:
RightPet does not advocate the intentional cross-breeding of purebred dogs. But the reality is that most dogs available for adoption at shelters and rescues are mixed breeds. We think it might be helpful to hear from owners of these mixes to see what traits can be found in these dogs who are desperately needing homes.

The first generation Shiffon is a cross between a pure Brussels Griffon and a pure Shih Tzu, although subsequent generations may have different proportions of the two breeds in the mix. This so-called designer hybrid is intended to create an apartment-sized toy that fits easily into many families.

Appearance / health:
While all mixed-breed dogs can vary in appearance, the Shiffon is often a tiny cutie with a straight coat on its body and a somewhat wild "hairdo."

Behavior / temperament:
While it's impossible to predict the exact personality of a mixed-breed dog, owners have reported that their Shiffons are playful, devoted, and possessive of their owner's attention-- a little diva among designer dogs. They might do best in the single pet family with the focus on pampering them. Don't neglect these social animals.
