On the farm it proves to be challenging to round up hundreds of sheep with only a few individuals available and so Collies are great sheep herders. Not only are they easy to train, they are very personable and loving with children. During thunderstorms Collies are somewhat timid and prefer to seek shelter indoors; and so they are very clean animals constantly bathing themselves and their coat does not retain a foul odor from being outside. They make great companions to other animals as they are very easy going. They are easy to maintain and rarely become sick. They are great work dogs and companions at the same time and know the difference between work and play.
