The Daschshund is a very compact dog. Easy to groom (the hardest is nail clipping and bathing) and easy to carry. But don't be fooled by its adorable, cuddly appearance: this breed can be nippy around bothersome people. Loves attention (especially in the form of treats) but doesn't like sudden movements, which scare it if it's not used to the people. For this reason, be very careful with this breed around children. Very loyal and very suitable for elderly companionship.
