The Dachshund is a great dog breed. I have fostered two dogs of this breed and they are very entertaining. They are curious, smart, energetic, and affectionate. Don't be fooled by their small size, they are very proud and brave! They make great family pets because they are so devoted to the ones they love. Although they can be quite stubborn and therefore difficult to train and housebreak. They also make great dogs for active families because of their high energy. Due to their strong personalities, they need someone to be a leader for them; otherwise they can easily take over. They get along well with other animals. The two that I fostered quickly became friends with the cats in the house and loved to sleep with them as well! They are a great combination of small size, high energy, and loving nature.
