Dalmatians are beautiful dogs. Both in their looks and their temperament. Our girl Spicy was no exception to these qualities. I have heard many stories of Dalmatians being a bit aggressive but I am wholly determined that this can be trained out of them. With a lot of socialization when they are young they will be the dog of your dreams.
Pros to these pups: 1) They are bold. They are a neat dog that people will take notice of. They are easy to care for with minimal grooming to that beautiful coat of theirs. 2) They are loyal and trustworthy. They get along well with children and other dogs (based on their socialization). You should always try to meet the dog's parents and the breeders before selecting a breed like this.
Cons to Dalmations: 1) They are protective of their things, i.e. their food bowls. Again, with some practice and training, this can be remedied. Dalmatians need a strong-willed owner because they are a breed that will not take orders from an owner with little follow-through. 2) They are large dogs. They are tall and long-legged and need exercise and space to ensure they don't end up with weak hip joints. Make sure you have the space necessary for these pups and they will bring you so much joy!
