We bought Nietzsche from a home breeder, but there ended up being a mistake in his vet check-a small heart murmur was found later.
We had been considering a Doberman for a while, and the time came to make the move. I had discovered blue dobies in my research, but had never seen one in person, nor did I expect to find one. Well, we did, and he was gorgeous. From 12 weeks, when we took him home, he was potty trained flawlessly. Very easy to train and sociable, he did often unnerve people as he got older and sleeker-it was impossible to mistake him for another breed even with his unusual coloring.
This guy really was a great dog to own! He became my ex's 60lb lap dog, but it was still sort of charming. He was a bit of a picky eater, though. He would (I think) just simply get bored with kibble and stop eating. I went through a period of time putting the kibble in gatorade bottles for him to play with, til he solved that riddle.
Definitely a recommended breed. We didn't crop his ears, and it was adorable!
