I am a professional pet sitter, I had the pleasure of providing doggie day care for a 3--7mos old Dogo Argentino, whom I LOVED!!! I was leary of taking this job, but was quickly so surprised by this puppy. She was literally one of the SMARTEST dogs I have ever known. She did not have ONE potty accident in my house; she was trained SO quickly. Her owner took her to puppy classes, and then continued on with obedience classes after that. She ended up training her as a Therapy Dog. This dogo had the best CALM disposition. She was LAZY, very relaxed around people/other dogs. NEVER barked. She loved to take walks, and as she got older she definitely because protective and displayed guard dog qualities. She also began experiencing some health issues later in life: a recurring bacterial skin infection, amongst other things. Not sure if that is common to this breed or not? At any rate, if you are looking for a large breed dog, Dogos would come recommended by me ~ a true beauty and gentle giant!!
