Every golden I have come across have been nothing but full of happiness! They love people, their owner(s) and other animals. Sometimes they act like a "small dog" and will want to climb up in your lap and/or lay on you. They take pride in pleasing their owners; a great definition of "mans best friend." This breed sheds so it is important to brush them to get rid of long dead hairs. From a distance their bark may seem protective but the closer you get, you can see their tail wag like crazy! Great family dog to have and grow up with. I have heard of stories of small kids climbing on the back of their goldens, like it's a horse! As other breeds, it is important to train them as soon as you can in the early puppy stages. I highly recommend!
