Not only are Papillon's adorable they're loving and easy going as well. Bred for companionship alone and not work, they boast great personalities. Surprisingly intelligent and well mannered for their size as well.
My own Papillon was a rambunctious puppy that took to training very well. He does have some issues with separation anxiety but more than what is to be expected in a pack animal. He was socialized and is very friendly toward strangers. In fact, even if he had not been socialized I believe he would have been friendly. He is docile but will bluff bark at someone he doesn't recognize immediately.
This dog also loves to cuddle. He possess energy but not so much that he acts out when not exercised. He rarely seems bored and contents himself with running a lap, jumping onto a chair and running the lap again. His personality shows when he walks as he lifts his tail and puffs out his chest in an elegant prance.
Papillon's were made to be your friend. If you want a cute pup to accompany you in life without too much demand then the Papillon is for you.
