Rat Terriers Rule!

My experience with a Rat Terrier was surprising. I was told by a friend to expect an intelligent animal. Their emotional sense was the unexpected treat. Rats truly are like little people in the sense of their emotional qualities. My Rat was an inside dog who had a Chihuahua for a friend. The two of them were great together. They learn very quickly and are very alert for small sounds making them excellent dogs for alerting you to strangers. They project much more personality than it looks as though they might hold.

Sophia liked to sleep in bed with me at night. They assume very quickly that this will be a nightly thing. She loved to burrow under the covers around my ankles. I can't imagine keeping Sophia outside. She would feel neglected without a companion to hang around her everyday.
