I have owned several Rat Terriers throughout my life. They have all been the same as far as personality. They are all very hyper pooches. They love their family especially their kids. If they are fearful they are aggressive.
Each of the Rat Terriers I owned throughout my life was very much hyper. They are a good choice for a rural/outdoor/farm dog, but would not make a very good town pet unless you like to run/exercise a lot.

They love the family that they are in. Their family is their pack and they take protecting them to the next level. So if you want to have a pet that is good with strangers ensure they are socialized very well as puppies and throughout their lives.

As I have had Rat Terriers as my own pets and as patients I realize that are aggressive when they feel threatened. The best way to avoid an incident is to have your veterinary professional move slowly with your Rat Terrier.
