Bumpy was my grandma and grandpa's dog, and I grew up playing with him. "Playing" mostly included petting his belly when he rolled over for some affection, during which he would thump his leg in the air to show his approval. He was a pretty sedentary dog, though I only knew him when he was old. I'm told that's how he acquired his name, though (as in "bump on a log"), so it may have been a lifelong tendency. He was sweet and loyal and followed my grandparents around wherever they went. I remember him being a big ball of thick fur that had a bit of a stench when you got too close. I always wanted to wash my hands after I pet him. Other than that, he was sweet and I loved him. He passed when I was still a little girl. We still have fond memories and lots of photos.
