Canine parvovirus (CPV) disease is a highly contagious virus which is spread through contact with feces containing the virus.

The parvovirus vaccination is considered to be a core vaccine. Puppies are vaccinated against parvovirus at 6 - 8 weeks, and then revaccinated every 3 weeks until they are 16 - 20 weeks old. A booster is given at one year old, and then every 1 - 3 years after that.

The parvovirus vaccine is available as an individual vaccine, and also as a combination vaccine called "DHPP" (vaccines for distemper, adenovirus [hepatitis], parainfluenza, and parvovirus).
