Ceftin etc. (cefuroxime axetil) belongs to a group of antibiotics called the cephalosporins, related to penicillins. Cefuroxime works by preventing bacteria from forming cell walls, vital for their survival. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that kills a wide variety of bacteria that cause a wide variety of commonly-occurring infections.
Ceftin etc. (cefuroxime axetil) is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections in dogs, including skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal infections.
Effective enough antibiotic however there are other cephalosporin antibiotics that are used more frequently in dogs.
