I have always lived with and loved animals. I have had cats, dogs, and fish since birth. I have had guinea pigs for about 10 years. I have had my share of frogs and lizards as well.
My family currently owns chickens, guineas, goats, llamas, and rabbits. I enjoy spending time with these animals though not as much as I enjoy time with my favorite dog, Max.
My favorite breed of dog is the German Shephard, most likely because I have spent the most time with german shephards. The are some of the smartest, most loyal dogs, and I always find myself wanting another one!

Every single Labrador I have ever met has been friendly, calm, and very well-behaved. They love kids, even small ones, and lovingly put up with all kinds of "abuse" that would cause most breeds of dog to bite or at least snap at the child. <br>My mother-in-law's black lab, Rainey is the perfect example of tolerance. I have seen my kids pull the poor dogs tail, try to ride her like a horse, and so much more. Most of the time she just lays there and lets them play with her until she has had enough, then she simply gets up and walks away. <br>Labradors also tend to get along well with other dogs, so multiple dogs in the family is generally not a problem. <br>The only real downside I see to Labradors is they do tend to shed a lot, so be prepared for frequent vacuuming or sweeping.<br>Overall, Labradors make a great family dog.){kind=link}
. <br>He always knows when someone is coming to visit, just by the listening to my family and I talk on the phone. He is very well trained, and almost always does exactly as he is told the first time. Anytime he does not immediately obey or does something bad, he gets this sad look on his face. He knows when he has done something wrong.<br>We have not had a problem with him misbehaving (chewing on things, tearing up things, etc) even though he stays in the house. We just give him plenty of rawhide dog bones to keep him busy, and that is enough to satisfy him. <br>The only "problem" I have had with Max, is just the typical problems that come with accommodating a large breed dog inside your house. He requires a rather large bed and crate. We have found that the best bed for him is a baby bed mattress, covered with a sheet. It is plenty soft, yet gives enough support for his large frame. <br>He does shed, though not a lot as long as I brush him daily. He needs a bath about once a week, or more often if it is raining outside when he has to "go". Overall, I think he is very low-maintenance and the perfect dog for me.){kind=link}
