I am an animal lover from way back. My obsession with all creatures started from when I was a little girl, with my father being a Vet. Dad used to bring home all types of animals for my sisters and I..ranging from puppies and kittens, to calves, kangaroos, goats and birds.
Currently, I am living in Indonesia and am the foster mum to two little street dogs, "Rattus" aka "Tikus", and Puppy Guling. They are purebred "Bali dogs", which have the most pure DNA of any dog on the planet, with their genetics being traced back showing they were the very first dog. The puppies are very smart, adaptable, playful and loving. It's also very rare that a "Bali dog" will ever have any genetic problems.

We acquired Jessie from a neighbour and from the get go she was amazing. Dad bought her to use for mustering the cattle as this breed is exceptional in handling livestock.<br><br>Jessie was a breeze to train and always very eager. She wasn't a "yappy" dog, but would always bark when she needed more attention from the cattle she was working with.<br><br>While she wasn't a "house dog", she was very good around my sisters and I and was always around for a pat. She never once tried to nip or bite.<br><br>She had medium length hair and was rarely groomed as she was a farm dog, but somehow always managed to still look lovely.<br><br>Dad has since bought more Border Collies and I would strongly recommend them for people who have space and room for them to move. If you DO NOT have space though, steer clear, as this breed get bored very easily and needs lots of exercise.){kind=link}

She would always greet us down at the letterbox as we walked home from school. She wanted to be <br>"one of the kids".<br><br>She was a beautiful girl, very playful and gentle and loved to be involved in games; whether it be waterbomb fights or exploring through the forest.<br><br>Goldie was a gentle giant, although as she aged, the "giant" part became more obvious, as Labs LOVE to eat. We really had to make sure she wasn't overfed... as with age and weight gain, her hips became quite sore and she had to be seen by the vet, eventually being diagnosed with hip dysplasia.<br><br>She's quite old now and still a lovely dog. Labs are exceptional family pets and are extremely loyal and gentle. The main problem I noticed with the breed is their tendency to over-eat which can cause joint problems. Apart from this they're ridiculously easy to train, groom, walk and generally fit in with family life.<br><br>I would definitely recommend this breed- just go easy on the food!){kind=link}

I was really excited as I didn't have a dog at home with me at this time and her dog always looked like so much fun through Facebook.<br><br>She dropped her off at my apartment and it was all smooth sailing for the first few hours, but after this she became anxious, needy and extremely annoying. <br><br>I would wake up in the morning with the dog whining beside my bed, scrambling to get up and there was just no time during the day that she would do her own thing.<br><br>While she was easy to groom and feed, this dog was exhausting! I was so happy when my friend came back to pick her up.<br><br>A Chihuahua is definitely not a dog I would like to own, but they do have their good points for some people...just not me.){kind=link}

Daisy had so many funny little quirks that I thought really set her apart from other dogs. She would go crazy biting the hose when mum watered the plants, and try and play "tug of war" with the wheels on the washing cart when we'd take out the laundry.<br><br>We never had any behavioural problems with Daisy whatsoever, and she fit in with our family perfectly.<br><br>Daisy was also a very good mother, having two litters of pups which she raised and cared for perfectly. We ended up keeping one of the pups and the pair got along like best friends.<br><br>Our Scottie lived until she was around 14 years old, when she started to have some health complications. Before this, she was a very healthy dog.<br><br>The only thing potential owners of this breed need to remember, is they do require quite a large amount of grooming and clipping.<br><br>In my opinion, Scottish Terriers are wonderful family pets and I would not hesitate to own another. Daisy was a joy to have in our lives.){kind=link}
 and would bark and bay at the wind. Compared to other dogs I had been around, she was extremely highly strung and exasperating.<br><br>She did have a nice nature but needed constant attention and if she didn't receive it, she would chew shoes, dig, and misbehave in other ways.. like constantly bark, at NOTHING.<br><br>Katie was easy to groom although she shed a lot of hair and smelt very "doggy", despite regular baths. She also had quite a few skin and ear infections.<br><br>If you have owned this breed of dog before and have the time and effort to put into them, then they're great. Otherwise, I wouldn't be looking into buying one as they can be very high maintenance.){kind=link}
.<br><br>Polly was a great dog to have around as dad was away overseas quite often. On a couple of occasions she alerted us to people stalking around the yard and would bark if anyone approached the front door.<br><br>Her coat was exceptionally slick and easy to groom and she rarely needed any medical treatment. Polly was very smart and easy to train, as well as having great car and road sense. She also got along really well with our chooks, rabbits and other livestock.<br><br>Polly was very healthy and mobile until the age of about 14. At that stage, she started to become arthritic and in a fair bit of pain. Dad put her to sleep at home, in her bed. We were all very upset, but i'm just so happy she got to live a lovely life and we were all there with her when she passed away.<br><br>Definitely a great family dog. Recommended highly!){kind=link}

As I was walking through a shopping centre, I passed a pet shop and saw this little guy sitting at the window all on his own. He looked like the most cheeky little boy and I had no other dogs at the time, so I bought him and took him back to the cattle station where I was working.<br><br>Bandit, as I called him, was the most beautiful, courageous little boy. He was fun loving and loyal. He was always up for fun or a little snuggle and movies on the couch.<br><br>He proved himself to be fearless...catching rats, and laying for days not moving from a spot where there was a dangerous snake coiled up in the house, letting me know it was there.<br><br>Bandit was eventually bitten by an Eastern Brown snake in his later years...although he thankfully recovered. Luckily my father is a Vet and gave him anti-venom just in time.<br><br>Bandy lived a few years after this and dies peacefully in his bed at home. He was loved by everyone that met him and I still have friends saying to me.."Bandit was honestly the best dog ever".<br><br>He was great with kids and other animals. In their adolescent years though, Jacks, by their very nature like to stray. Having Bandit fixed up really helped with this problem.<br><br>He was easy to train and didn't need much grooming at all... very low-maintenance.<br><br>I would not hesitate to own another one of these dogs, as he brought plenty of joy to my life and to others.){kind=link}
