I was so blessed and fortunate to grow up in the deep country, giving me the freedom to continuously be around all kinds of animals to love! My family and I are avid dog rescuers, so we have never had less than 3 dogs at a time! I've been through the good and the bad when it comes to pets and I've been lucky to be exposed to all kinds of dog breeds in my lifetime.

 the fence several times. She liked to run. She came back all the times she ran away and she always had a small dead animal in her mouth when she returned. This wasn’t alarming, really, because it happens. Dogs “play” with smaller animals like squirrels and such and end up killing them unintentionally sometimes. But I just had this bad feeling about it because it was happening all the time. <br>Labs don’t shed and we experienced no health problems with Rogue. She was minimal grooming and she didn’t bark a lot. This was great for when she came inside because there was never a clean-up issue and since she slept next to my mom’s bed, it didn’t cause any pet allergies to flare up. We never exposed her to children, so I’m not sure how she would be around a family. <br>We only had Rogue six months. She ended up killing our miniature pinscher who had been with us for 17 years. Our min pin was the only small dog we had at the time and she was the alpha of our group of big dogs, so this whole thing was surprising. However, with the small dead animals Rogue had continuously had in her mouth, maybe this was something inevitable. This makes me glad that we never brought her around small children or babies. <br>I will never have a Lab again, though I do hope that this was a one in a million case with the one I had.){kind=link}
 is hilarious. Her name is Mimi and she mixes the characteristics of a Pekingese and Beagle perfectly. She has the short hair of a Beagle and the face and stouter body structure of a Pekingese. <br>When we first got her as a puppy, Mimi was extremely timid and anxious. Scared of everything—but not scared to bark at it! She still is a bit skittish but it has gotten a lot better with age. She was pretty easy to potty train and though she isn’t a fan of being around other dogs, she doesn’t attack or start a scuffle. She just hides. <br>Mimi loves attention, but she is particularly good at occupying herself. She is a great dog to have if you work from home because of this and she doesn’t pose as a distraction. She does not get into things or make a mess when she’s entertaining herself, either. <br>She has a pretty chill temperament until you start playing with her and then she goes nuts! She’s running around the house, unstoppable, and she’ll chase that tail of hers for hours! She is a really funny dog without even meaning to be! She has never been around babies specifically, but she has been around children and she is great. Mimi is not a cuddler and doesn’t like to be held. She would prefer to lay at your feet than in your lap. <br>No health problems and very low-maintenance. She doesn’t stray from home, so you don’t necessarily have to keep her on a leash when you walk this dog. A good dog for any size living space and she is great if you like to travel because she is easy to take with you, or low-maintenance enough for someone to dog sit her while you are gone.){kind=link}
 She was very laid back and preferred to stay indoors, relaxing on our laps. She didn’t really need a lot of activity, but when she was in the mood to play, I swear she literally had a big grin on her face, wagging her tail behind her. <br>She had a strong bladder and never had an accident in the house, which was surprising because normally when a dog is older, losing bladder control is pretty common and accidents are more expected. It’s almost like the other dogs we have knew Hope was the older dog as they were always courteous to her: always letting her walk in first, or get to the food bowls first, or even have her pick of where to relax in the living room. She really did have this motherly spirit that us humans and the other animals could clearly see. <br>She was not timid or nervous or high strung, and like I said before, she never had any reason to be. The other animals respected her from the first moment we brought Hope home. She did not have any health issues, besides being a little slower moving—again, due to her age, I think. She was great around kids and easy maintenance. I have been around younger Pekingese breeds and though they are a little more energetic, I believe they would be good around kids and families as well. <br>Really great nature and perfect for a small living space.){kind=link}
. Sky has been with us for 8 years now and she is absolutely brilliant. She still stuns me with her smarts on a daily basis. <br>Sky is definitely an alpha female type dog. She leads the pack and she deserves to. She was fully trained in what felt like an instant when she was a puppy and I don’t think there are many other dogs that can make you feel as incredibly safe as a Blue does. To be silly and imaginative for a second, Sky is the breed of dog that if I had to go into some Braveheart kind of battle, I would take her with me and we would fight like champions. Sky is loyal and brave and protective and just…honorable and true. I would trust her with an infant tied to her back. Again, silly and imaginative, but I’m being honest. I trust that dog with my life. <br>Sky is strong—both in spirit and physically. Once, she jumped over a tiny stair fence, and accidentally slipped and the spike went into her side. She held her head up and was a trooper while she was fixed up from a literal impalement, and she healed miraculously, only to be back and running around two days later. <br>She sheds a little, but not enough to make her high-maintenance clean-up or grooming. She also has very little physical or health ailments. She enjoys outdoors and indoors as well, and is easy as far as bathing and keeping clean. Her intelligence is so high, we continuously are training her to do new and unique tricks and things. She could probably do a math equation if we taught her how! ?<br>Sky’s mood adapts to whatever environment she’s in. If you want to play, she plays, if you’re relaxing, she is mild-mannered, and if something poses as any type of threat to your home, she is up front as a protector in seconds. <br>Blues are great with kids and families. Sky is great with most dogs of any size—as long as that animal respects Sky’s alpha status. There have been times that this alpha was not respected and Sky has gotten territorial. So, you have to be mindful and do your research when it comes to what kind of other dogs/pets you put together with a Blue. Not every pet will be compatible. <br>Sky is a physically beautiful dog. Whenever I look at her, my first thought is always that “This dog truly loves me.” And she does. As I expand my own new family and start having children, a Blue Heeler will most likely be the dog we go with.){kind=link}
