MRI has very high sensitivity (100%) and specificity (90%) in differentiating between benign or malign focal masses of the liver. MRI especially correctly identifies hepatocellular carcinoma.
These imagining techniques are quite useful for diagnosing and staging various liver disease, and especially hepatocellural carcinoma. MRI provides better soft tissue contrast and is superior in diagnosing smaller lesions compared to CT scan, or any other imaging technique.
