Every steroid form will interact in the body differently. Some dogs will respond to triamcinolone that do not respond to prednisone. Dogs will have differing degrees of side effects with the differing forms.
The side effects of short term use are primarily increased thirst, urine production and hunger. Side effects such as thinning bone or excessive immune suppression occur with high dose or long term use and these concerns should be discussed with your veterinarian.
